I personally, find it easier to promote myself in person than online.

Those methods really do work, in bringing people to your page. Then it's up to your work to keep them there. I would personally recommend spending more time on your art than on promotion. People will come around, but you want to always be improving and putting work out there so that when they do, they stay.
